The circuit clerk's office has a staff of 5 to assist the public with any of our provided services, including:

Filing and maintaining records of all cases that are heard by Lawrence County Courts involving adoptions, family cases, divorces, criminal felonies, misdemeanors, traffic cases, juvenile cases, law cases, small claims, probates, chanceries, and tax cases
Collect fines and fees for cases where they have been ordered and distribute the funds to the agencies which they are intended
Archiving historic cases in various storage locations for genealogy and other research
Contact and organize the petit and grand juries

Where is the Lawrence County Circuit Clerks office located?

The office is located on the 2nd floor of the courthouse.

What are the Circuit Clerk’s office hours?

Monday – Friday 8:00-4:00 pm

How do I get a copy of my marriage or death certificate?

These are located in the Lawrence County Clerk’s office 618-943-2346

Can Circuit Clerk Employee’s help me with my legal problems?

The staff is always available to answer questions but are prohibited to give legal advice of any kind.

Do I have to pay my fine in person?

You do not have to pay your fine in person. Any petty traffic offence that does not require a court appearance can be mailed into the office or paid online. Please mail the office a copy of your blue ticket with a written guilty plea.

How do I get copies of my court records?

Most records are available for a small fee.

Can I get married at the Courthouse?

You can be married by a Judge after a marriage license is obtained. Please call or stop by the Circuit Clerk office to schedule. Times vary.

I need help filling out my Order of Protection/No Stalking Order, can someone in the Circuit Clerks office help me.

Can the Circuit Clerks office transfer my call to another department?

Unfortunately, the phone system does not have the capability to transfer calls to other departments. All department phone numbers are listed on each department page.
