NOTICE OF LETTING

The Lawrence County Highway Department is accepting bids for a 1983 Ford truck with Bearcat Distributor, and a Galion 8-12 Hydrostatic Roller. Sealed bids will be received at the Lawrence County Highway Department; 2204 South 15th Street; Lawrenceville, IL 62439 until 9:30 A.M. on the 13th day of March 2024. Bids will be opened and read March 13th at 9:30 A.M. at the Lawrence County Highway Department.

The equipment can be viewed at the Lawrence County Highway Department; 2204 South 15th Street; Lawrenceville, IL 62439 from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.. The Bidder must determine the condition of the equipment. The bid shall be enclosed in an envelope endorsed "Equipment Sale Bid-1983 Ford:, and "Equipment Sale Bid- Roller".

Lawrence County, in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively ensure that the contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement will be awarded to the highest responsible bidder without discrimination on the grounds of race, color or national origin.

The Lawrence County Highway Department reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive any informalities and technicalities, and to accept the bid, which in its determination best serves the needs of Lawrence County, Illinois.

Highway Department

The Lawrence County Highway Department is responsible for the construction and maintenance of all the bridges and roads in the Lawrence County Highway System. The system consists of 137 miles of county highways including numerous bridges and culverts, roadside ditches and other highway features.

County Highway maintenance activities include:

  • Pothole Patching                                            
  • Tree and Brush Trimming & Removal
  • Shoulder Repair                                              
  • Ditch Cleaning & Regrading
  • Culvert Repair & Replacement                       
  • Roadside Mowing & Trimming
  • Sign Repair & Replacement                            
  • Snow Removal

In addition, the Lawrence County Highway Department provides technical assistance to the 9 township road districts of Lawrence County in the construction and maintenance of their 539 miles of township highways, numerous bridges and culverts, and other road features.

 

January 15 through April 15 the County Highways will be posted and the 8 Ton Weight Limit will be enforced.  The County Engineer, depending on the weather, may allow over 8 Tons at designated times.  Those times will be listed here:

February 11 through February 17 - Stripes roads are open. Unstriped roads are open till 10:00 A.M..

February 18 through March 2 - All Roads are open.

**If you need to go on a Township Road, you will need to check with the respective Township Road Commissioner to see if their roads are posted and to get permission to run,  if necessary.
